WORLD ENGINEERING DAY 2022: APWEN ENUGU HOLDS SCIENTIFIC & TECHNICAL EXHIBITION AT MIKETERY COLLEGE, ENUGU
Enugu: The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, APWEN, Enugu Chapter in collaboration with Miketery College, Trans Ekulu, Enugu on Tuesday, 1st March, 2022 held a Scientific and Technical Exhibition at the College premises, in celebration of the 2022 World Engineering Day.
The prestigious event was coordinated by the APWEN Enugu Chapter Chairman, Engr. Dr. Cecilia Igbonakalum Okafor, MNSE.
APWEN team on arrival were welcomed by students with their school band.
The school Exhibited a wide range of Scientific technical machines/ devices made by the students. A four man team of APWEN members studied the devices, while the students explained the methodology used in constructing the devices starting from initial design to completion stage.
The APWEN team awarded marks considering Scientific and Technical approach together with the state of the art technology.
The first position went to Somto Ofodile (J S S 2 platinum) who built a helicopter that is remotely controlled. The helicopter flew to a distance. The second position went to Nwachukwu Vivian (J S S 3 Diamond) who built a Vending machine with a carton . The vending machine was used to dispense candies. The third position went to Muojekwu Olivia (J S S 3 Diamond) who made a Skin Glow Face Cream.
Through this program, many of the students are now motivated to pursue careers in Engineering and Technology with APWEN, Enugu ever ready to provide the needed mentorship and tutelage.
The APWEN Team that attended the exhibition was made up of the following seasoned engineers; Engr. Dr. Chioma Ugwa,MNSE, Engr Georgina Igboekwu Boi,MNSE, Engr. Chigozie Achi MNSE and Engr Evangeline Ekoh, MNSE under the Distinguished Chairmanship of our president, Engr. Dr. Elizabeth Eterigho, FNSE.
