Lagos – On Monday, 14th August 2023, Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha turned 50.
A novelty football match was held in his honour at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos involving some of his Super Eagles teammates including Peter Rufai, Daniel Amokachi, Mutiu Adepoju, etc.
At the ‘footballing old age’ of 50, Jay Jay has not lost any of his magic. He is indeed as dazzling as ever, tempting some pundits to ask one of the Saudi clubs to sign him up, maybe as a player/coach to continue from where he stopped.
hoo!haa!! Newspapers, as a proud promoter of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, the Flying Antelopes where Okocha played briefly in the early days of his career, joins the club and the rest of mankind in sending birthday wishes to this football phenomenon, who hails from Ogwashiuku, Delta State but was born and bred in Enugu.

Other Nigerian Football legends who played for the Flying Antelopes include Christian Chukwu, Alloysius Atuegbu and John Utaka.
Jay Jay is proudly 042 (Nwa Enugwu), by virtue of being born and bred in Enugu aka 042. He still has a house at Nza Street, near Enugu State Government House, in the highbrow neighborhood of Independence Layout.
