TINUBU’S HEROIN-GATE: PDP ASKS INEC TO DISQUALIFY APC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, asking that the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu be disqualified from participating in the forthcoming election due to his conviction for a narcotics related Offence in Northern Illinois, USA.

A letter written by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba dated Sunday, 10th November, 2022, reads in part:

“It is no longer news that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is hopelessly and irredeemably disqualified from contesting the February, 2023 Presidential election having been reported indicted and subjected to criminal forfeiture judgment owing to a narcotics related offence by a US court in Northern Illinois.

“Nigerians are however appalled by the lame attempt by the APC Presidential campaign, which after admitting that there was a $460,000 drug money criminal forfeiture against accounts traced to the APC presidential candidate is now desperately trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the Nigerian people and our democracy institutions.

“Seeing that it is technically out of the 2023 presidential contest and further distraught that it cannot field candidates at all levels during the 2023 general elections owing its illegal and unconstitutional congresses, the APC has resorted to unleashing violence on PDP Campaign rallies.

“Having been sentenced and fined by way of criminal suit forfeiture of $460,000 drug money in a criminal suit filed in pursuant to the United States criminal code, Asiwaju cannot by virtue of Section 137 (1)(d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, seek election to the office of President”
