TAIWANESE EARTHQUAKE: HON ONUAKALUSI, CHAIRMAN TAIWANESE PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION COMMISERATES WITH AMBASSADOR

Lagos– The Chairman, Nigerian Taiwan Parliamentary Friendship Association, Hon Okey-Joe Onuakalusi has commiserated with the Government and people on Taiwan in the wake of the recent earthquake which ravaged the Island nation.

In a letter dated 4th April, 2024 and addressed to the Taiwanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Hon Andy Yih-Ping Liu, Onuakalusi, who is the member Representing Oshodi/Isolo II Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives expressed condolences to the victims and their families.

The letter reads:
“We are deeply saddened by the news of a 7.4 magnitude fierce earthquake that occurred in Taiwan’s Eastern city of Hualien at 7.58 am on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, with overwhelming impacts that caused the tragic loss of nine human lives and more than 900 injuries, in cities and villages around the county.
We commiserate with President Tsai Ing-Wen, her cabinet and Taiwanese. We also express our sincere condolences to the victims and their families, with deep respect to the rescuers, who have spared no effort to save many.

We would also like to express our support to any other community that was affected by the devastating tremor, the worst to hit the country in 25 years.

Accept our deepest condolences, as we pledge our moral support in this difficult time your country is facing now.

We believe that the challenge will not affect our bilateral relations but will enhance it.”

Hon Onuakalusi, a lawyer by profession has established a strong relationship with several countries such as Taiwan and Vietnam, all aimed at attracting investments to his constituency, especially fruitful business partnership between foreign countries and companies located within the Oshodi/Isolo Industrial Cluster within his Constituency.

Hon Onuakalusi believes that with the right incentives and support from Government, at all levels, the Oshodi/Isolo Industrial Cluster shall contribute more meaningfully to the growth of Nigeria’s GDP.
