REDUCTION OF COST OF GOVERNANCE: ZAMFARA GOVERNOR DOWNSIZES MINISTRIES FROM 28 TO 16
Gusau – Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has cut down the number of ministries in his Government from 28 to 16, in a bid to restructure, cut unnecessary duplication of functions and seal financial leakages.
Governor Lawal signed an Executive Order to that effect on Thursday.
This austerity action was announced in a statement by Mr Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesman to the governor.He said the governor signed the Executive Order on Thursday at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Gusau.
The newly approved ministries are those of Agriculture; Budget and Planning; Science and Technology; Environment and Natural Resources; Finance; Health; and Commerce; Trade and Industry
Others are Information and Culture; Justice; Housing and Urban Development; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Religious Affairs; Women Affairs and Social Development; Works and Infrastructure; Youth and Sport; Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Political analysts see Governor Lawal’s action as being very commendable in the face of increased harsh economic realities, following the removal of fuel subsidy.
