QATAR WORLD CUP: ALCOHOL WILL BE SOLD BUT…



The Organizing Committee for the forthcoming FIFA World up, Qatar 2022 has stated that sale of alcohol would be alcohol to fans at specific zones during the quadriennial game being held in the Middle East for the first time.
Speaking during a world press conference held this Thursday morning at the Media center of the Lusail Stadium, Qatar, the CEO of the Local Organizing Committee, Nasser Al Khater, there would be alcohol available in the vicinity of the stadia and hotels, under certain conditions.

“There shall be the sale of alcohol at specific zones within the perimeter of the stadia and also in hotels. However, this shall be three hours before every match and one hour after each match.
“However, no alcohol shall be allowed inside the stadium itself. Alcohol shall also be sold within designated fan zones”
Mr Al Khater also stated that fans however will not be allowed to bring alcohol into the State of Qatar.
The world cup is expected to begin in seventy three days time in Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar.
The issue of alcohol has been a contentious issue regarding the World Cup in Qatar based on the stringent ban on alcohol consumption in Islamic countries.
