PLWDS SHALL GIVE THEIR VOTE, 16% OF VOTING POPULATION TO ONE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE WHO BELIEVES IN INCLUSIVITY – EPELLE, CEO, ALBINO FOUNDATION


The CEO/Founder, The Albino Foundation, Mr Jake Epelle has stated that albinos and other Persons Living With Disabilities, PLWDs in Nigeria shall give their vote, en bloc to a Presidential candidate who convinces them of his belief in their inclusivity.
Epelle made the assertion this Friday morning while speaking as a guest on Sunrise Daily, Channels TV current affairs program.
He decried the abandonment of albinos and other Persons Living With Disabilities, PLWDs by presidential candidates in their manifestos and campaign speeches.

“So far, no Presidential candidate has said anything on our issue. What do they have in their manifesto for our inclusivity?
According to him, Persons Living With Disabilities constitute 16% of Nigeria’s voting population and 16% of the electorate cannot be ignored by any candidate that wants to win an election.
“PLWDs shall give their vote, en bloc to any of the Presidential candidates who has the best policy for the inclusivity of our community”
He stated that PLWDs’ right to vote before others should be respected, as part of inclusivity.
“The law allows us the right of voting before others, its legal. The security agencies should help us on that”
He was also full of praises for the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Mahmud Yakubu, describing him as the best INEC Chairman in terms of inclusivity of PLWDs, “I must commend the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmud Yakubu. In fact, he is INEC Chairman that has done the most to ensure inclusivity of members of our community”
