Finally, Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and erstwhile presidential aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has joined the Labour Party, LP after dumping the PDP days ago.
This ends days of speculation over which party, the soft spoken charismatic leader may join. The social media virtually went into over drive as various parties allegedly courted Obi, the “beautiful bride” of today’s Nigerian politics.
In a statement on its official Twitter account @abourpartynng, the Labour Party confirmed this about thirty minutes ago.
“Dear Peter Obi, welcome to the Labour party, the party of productivity. Together we will Take back Nigeria.”
Prof Pat Utomi, leader of the National Consultative Forum, NCF and one of the key promoters of the 3rd Force movement in the country had dropped a hint yesterday when he said that the Labour Party (LP) was in touch with Peter Obi.
