OTTI’S PROBE SHOULD INCLUDE ORJI UZOR, OCHENDO GOVERNMENTS TO AVOID BEING SEEN AS ANTI IKPEAZU VENDETTA – ABIA OBIDIENT GROUP

Aba – Mazi Chetachi Ikpe, Coordinator, Peter Obi Grassroots Movement, POGM, Abia State has commended the State Governor, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR for a superlative first month in office.

However, he urged Otti to shun a probe of his predecessor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and focus on Rebuilding the State as he promised in his inaugural speech.

While speaking with journalists in Aba, Ikpe stated that such an exercise would be a distraction for Otti but should include a probe of Orji Uzor Kalu and Theodore Orji administrations, if it must be done.

“As the only Labour Party, LP Governor in Nigeria, all eyes are on him and getting into the politics of “probe or no probe” will be an unecessary distraction to him since it will erode the Pan-Abia followership he currently enjoys”.

However, while commending Governor Otti for the Judicial Panel of Inquiry he recently inaugurated, Ikpe suggests that the Panel’s Terms of reference to be expanded to cover from 1999 till 2023, to ensure that it is not misconstrued as a vendetta against his predecessor, Ikpeazu.

“This move is commendable. Anybody who has any property or funds traceable to ABSG should be made to account for it. Government property is public property, and not private property.

” The Panel should equally probe the administrations of Orji Uzor Kalu and Ochendo Theodore Orji, if not , it will confirm the feelings among Abians that the whole probe panel is an Anti Ikpeazu vendetta, not really about recovery of Abia State Government properties”

“We want to see Government properties at Old timber shed and Isi Gate, Umuahia taken over by a former Governor and his son recovered.

” We want the panel to probe the allegation that a certain former Governor used machinery for the now moribund State owned newspaper, The Ambassador Newspaper to set up his own newspaper company
