ORGAN HARVESTING SAGA: OBASANJO WRITES LONDON COURT CHIEF CLERK, SEEKS LENIENCY FOR EKWEREMADU, WIFE
Abeokuta – Former Nigerian President, Dr Olusegun Obasanjo has written to the chief clerk of Old Bailey Court, London, UK, seeking leniency for the former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Nwanneka, in their trial for organ harvesting, resulting in their conviction.
According to the letter dated 3rd April, 2023, Obasanjo pleaded that the chief clerk “for the very warm relationship between the United Kingdom and the Federal Republic of Nigeria; for his position as one of the distinguished senators in the Nigerian parliament and also for the sake of their daughter in question whose current health is in danger and requires an urgent medical attention, you will use your good offices to intervene and urge the court and the UK Government to temper justice with mercy”
