OKPOSI EDUCATION INITIATIVE (OEI) REWARDS 133 BRILLIANT STUDENTS

Abakiliki: On Friday, 19th November 2021, members of the Okposi Education Initiative (OEI) led by the Chairman, Dr. Nnanna Uchechukwu Agwu toured all viable public schools in Okposi, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State.
According to a statement signed by Comrade Odii Okereke, the group’s Public Relations Officer, the OEI gave prizes to best 3 students in academics per class, as well as the Best Agricultural Science Student per school. That was the 10th annual Reward for Academic Excellence (RACE) activity and part of the activities to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
However, the group was saddened by the fact that only 7 out of 10 public secondary schools in the community were eligible this year as some schools were temporarily closed in the previous academic session due to lack of accreditation or low student patronage.
In his speech, the Chairman, Dr Agwu expressed the determination of the group to work with other stakeholders to improve the quality of education in the community.
Other #RACE2021 team members include the Founding Chairman, Dr. Laz Ude Eze, the Director of Finance – Mr. Nwani Ngene, the PRO – Mr. Odii Okereke, Mr. Dan Ogbonna and Mr. Chidi Okereke.
Since 2011, the 18-member OEI has given out over 1,500 prizes to more than 1000 students in the Okposi Ezin’asato. It will soon embark on the State of Okposi Schools Assessment to facilitate actions by lovers of education.
