Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses her condolences to the people of Ondo State on the demise of our in-law, Barr Rotimi Akeredolu, the erstwhile Governor of the state who passed away on the 27th of December, 2023 in a German hospital, after unsuccessfully battling leukemia and prostate cancer.
We also condole with his wife, our sister, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu (Ezi Ada Igbo) over her loss.
Ohanaeze remembers Akeredolu as a great in-law. He really promoted cordial relations between Ndigbo and their Yoruba hosts in Ondo State during his tenure. Beyond that, he also created a conducive atmosphere for Nigerians, regardless of their tribe, religion or state of origin, to reside in and do business productively in the state.
Indeed, he was a nationalist and a firm believer in Restructuring.
He shall always be remembered as a patriot.
We urge his wife, his immediate family and all citizens of the state to bear the loss with equanimity because the late Governor “came and saw and conquered”
