The Coalition of Southern Nigerian Youths has warned the Federal Government that “nothing must happen to Navy Commodore Olakunle Olawunmi” the patriotic whistleblowing “General”.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the group read thus:
“Coalition of Southern Nigerian Youths wish to commend Patriot Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, Rtd for the uncommon patriotism and spirit of sacrificial service exhibited recently when he spoke on Channels TV, exposing the complicity of the Federal Government in the current spake of insecurity that has engulfed Nigeria. We wish to warn that all hell shall be let loose if anything happens to him. The trending slogan of the NTA based on the current insecurity is “If you see something, say something”. Therefore, he should not be victimized for “saying something”
In the same vein, we are utterly dismayed with the harrasment and questioning of Channels TV journalists, Chamberlain Usoh and Kayode Okikiola for doing their job by interviewing guests on Channels TV current affairs program, Sunrise Daily. Interviewers cannot be held responsible for the answers given by guests to their question.
Rather, the interviewers should be held responsible for whatever they say on air.
Again, we commend the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for inviting Commodore Olawunmi for questioning.
However, we expect his revelations to be properly investigated and utilized instead of victimizing him.
Finally, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to prove Commodore Olawunmi wrong by expediting actions on thorough investigation of the weighty issues he raised on Channels TV so as to restore the confidence of Nigerians on his preparedness to tackle the rising insecurity in Nigeria with the required seriousness.
FG should stop blame game and pampering of bandits and take proactive measures to protect life of Nigerians.
