MORAL REFLECTIONS ON HON. OSITA NGWU’S CLASSIC INAUGURAL RECEPTION CARNIVAL – COMRADE IKECHUKWU UMEH

The event center for the much talked about post inaugural reception in honor of Hon Osita Ngwu today at De Base Event Center was carnival of a sort, the venue was filled to brim and the adjoining road networks to the venue were all put at stand still by all sort of cars and buses parked side ways all over the long path, it appears as if the entire Enugu state residents converged at the event and that got me thinking as I walked around the venue from point to point, running mental maths on the likely volume of resources expended on the event against probable social need the event was primarily designed to address in the long list of critical social issues begging for urgent attention across the nook and cranny of Enugu west senatorial zone.

The more I trying to wrap my head around the likely primary essence of such lavish carnival, viewing through pyramid of critical social issues such resources could suitably address for a long term benefits of the people gathered at the event, the more worried I became with our slow social development pace in respect to social norms and values in relation to governance, politicking and social services.

While everyone at the venue sees people dining and making merry, I see Ndi Enugu West who’s children attend schools without roofs, no adequate teachers and graduates at home without job, I see jobless youths drinking and wining without tangible sources of livelihood, I see people without access to; good primary health Care, quality education, clean water, affordable clean energy and good shelter covering their needs with beautiful clothing, cooling off over bottles of beers.

The progressives believe that the emergence of obidients philosophy of conservative governance and consequential management of resources deliberately aiming critical infrastructures and human capital development has eclipsed NRASHI style of politicking.

For example, the news making round has it that Prof Paul Nnamchi, Member representing Enugu East/IsiUzo in the federal house of representatives embarked on massive road construction across his constituency immediately after the inauguration as his thank you gift to his constituents.

We in Enugu west are itching for such beautiful sustainable development goals.

It may interest our elected leaders to know that we have started counting down on the four years mandate we painstakingly entrusted on our representatives across the zone; Apostles of Citizens Driven Transformation will soon be activated to keep tab of their stewardships. All we want to hear in the next 1451 days is ‘ GO AND VERIFY” Nothing more, nothing less

Congratulations once again my highly esteemed Senator, Hon Osita Ngwu.

Comrade Ikechukwu Umeh,
