JUSTICE G.C. NNAMANI HOSTS ANA READING SESSION, INAUGURATION OF ANA, NSUKKA UNIT AT HIS LIKKE-IHEAKA COUNTRY HOME
Nsukka – President, Customary Court of Appeal, Enugu State, Justice George Chibueze Nnamani hosted a special Reading Session of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA at the St. Vincent Auditorium inside his Likke- Iheaka country home, Igbo-Eze South LGA, Enugu State on Saturday, 29th April 2023.
The event equally witnessed the inauguration of the Nsukka unit of ANA. In his speech at the inauguration, ANA Enugu chairman, Comrade Zulu Ofoelue said ANA had its cradle in Nsukka and that the unit would be the only one under the Enugu State branch.
Ofoelue also announced that the unit’s executive including Chief Alex Ugwoke Oloto and Dr Louis Ezema, as Chairman and Secretary respectively would be on interim basis, to run a smooth election within three months.
The literary feast was a homecoming for ANA, which had been founded there at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1981 by the Late Literary icon, Chinua Achebe.
The host for the ceremony, Justice George Nnamani said his passion for writing informed his decision to host the writers, even as he pledged to make the gathering an annual affair. He affirmed that ANA members would be free to use the new St Vincent Auditorium whenever they have any gathering in the area.
Some of the dignitaries that graced the event include Prof Damian Opata, Associate Prof Greg Mbarjiogu, Dr Adaobi Nwoye, Dr May Ngozi Ezeudu
Others include Barr Joy Nnamani(wife of the host), Igwe CC Nnamani and his wife, Lolo Caroline Nnamani.
Also at the meeting were Hon. Justices E. N. Nnamani, R. E. Ogbodo, Prof Madu and his wife, Justice N. C. Madu, Hon. Emeka Ukwuaba, one time Commissioner in Enugu State, the Chief Registrar, Customary Court of Appeal, Enugu State, Iheobuna Sparkle Oji, the Deputy Chief Registrar, T. S. Ugwuja, the Proprietor of El Shadai Academy, Chief T. S. Nnamani, Barrister George Nnamani, Jr. etc.
Highlights of the event include reading of excerpts of the host’s books by guests, a special interview session anchored by Dr Ada Nwoye, poetry and musical performances.
During the special interview session, Nnamani, who has undoubtedly made a success of both his career as a jurist and his block buster fiction writing, listed his sources of Inspiration to include Dim Emeka ojukwu, Prof Ossy enekwe, Prof Damian opata, Henry Akubuiro of Sun Newspapers among others.
