JUBILATION AS RT HON TOBY OKECHUKWU DONATES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN AWGU EDUCATION ZONE
Awgu: It was jubilation galore at Awgu LGA Headquarters yesterday when the Member, Representing Aninri/ Awgu/ Orji River Federal Consituency and Deputy Minority Leader House of Representatives,Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu donated Educational materials to secondary schools in Awgu Education zone.
In a ceremony held at Awgu LGA Headquarters and attended by the two Chief Supervising Principals in the zone, all the Principals in all the secondary schools in Awgu Education Zone, the Chief Supervising Principal,( Regular) Barr Ikpenwa in his opening speech hailed Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu for his special interest in the development of Education in his Federal Consituency.
According to him, recently in December 2021, Toby Okechukwu registered selected students from all the schools in Awgu Education zone in a colorful ceremony, which he said, the legislator had been doing for years now, in addition to other interventions in the Education sector.
Ikpenwa assured him of the Principals and teachers support and prayers . He reminded Hon Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu that their leadership is very appreciative of all his interventions in the Educational sector and handed him over a manual from the Permanent secretary Ministry of Education, Enugu State.
The CSP finally requested for an office space for their use as they are in a temporary accommodation in the council which is affecting their service delivery in supervising schools.
Also the CSP Technical, Mr Camilus Okonkwo, said that the staff and students of schools in the zone are very proud of Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu’s quality representation which schools in the area are benefitting from. He said their prayers is that God will elevate him to higher position so that he will continue to do more for the people.
The CSP said that Rt Hon Toby’s interventions in schools has a positive impact on the masses and that is what good Representation means.
He said he may not know the level of burden he removed from parents each year he pays student’s Waec registration fees. He wished him well and prayed that God will continue to guide and protect him.
The Representative of the Director of Education services, Enugu state, Onyinye Obunneoha equally brought special greetings from Director of Education services. She said Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu’s good works in the Education sector is everywhere and encouraged him to do more.
Responding, Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu went down memory lane to remind the large gathering of Principals that he has very deep passion and interest in Education especially in teachers and school’s development as his Late father was a teacher, and himself taught briefly as a teacher, many years ago.
He said that all these interventions in reconstruction of schools, provision of Educational materials, provision of science kits and payment of Waec fees amongst others are all geared towards complimenting whatever efforts Governor Ugwuanyi and other leaders are doing in Education sector as well as the indigent nature of our people.
He equally said that teachers are instrument towards societal development.
The Deputy Minority Leader, said those materials donated may not solve all the problems confronting schools but will surely go a long way in ameliorate some of them.
He advised the Schools to use those materials donated judiciously for the benefit of the students to make their learning easy.
He left the audience with his own quote about Education as follows;

Thousands of packs of Exercise books , hundreds of Whiteboards, cartons of sensitive markers, and many other materials donated will be shared amongst schools in Awgu Education zone.
It will be recalled that Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu had in the past, sponsored indigenes from the three LGAs in learning vocational training at Europe vocational school Enugu.
Sponsored many indigenes at SEDI, Enugu to learn various vocational works.
Sponsored the training of Science teachers and Distributed to them Science kits.
Sponsored the training of hundreds of indigenes in cooking and Hospitality.
Paid WAEC fees for hundreds of students for years now.
Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu has renovated and reconstructed many Schools within his Federal Consituency, which includes,Awono Owelli primary school, Central School Agbogugu, Community Primary School Onoli Awgu, Community Sch Ugbonabo, Community Sch Okpanku, Exam hall of Awgu boys, Mmaku High School, Central School Mmaku, Obeagu Community Primary School uhueze ,Nenwe, Reconstruction of introtech lab and Exam hall at Community sec Sch Obeagu, Central School umuome inyi, Girls high school ugwuoba, St Vincent Sec School Agbogugu, Community sec Sch Ugbokpala, Community pri sch ngelelator, Mgbowo, Umunagu pri sch Nenwe, Technical college Amoli, Central School Mgbidi, Central School Awgunta, uhugo Technical Sch Ndeabor, Central School Nkwe, Science equiped labs at Uhugo Technical Sch Ndeabor, provision of desks to schools amongst other interventions.
Large entourage of Dignateries accompanied Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu to the ceremony.
In his vote of thanks, Mr Chigozie Camilus Okonkwo thanked Rt. Hon Toby Okechukwu for his timely interventions and prayed that he will be promoted to higher office by God’s Grace.
The ceremony ably moderated by Dr Godwin Ikechukwu Udeuhele, Former Enugu State Commissioner for Information, ended with joyful songs of praises by the Principals.
