INNOSON BOOSTED BY FGN’S PURCHASE OF BUSES FOR ABUJA SHUTTLE SERVICE IN LINE WITH NADDG’S POLICY

Abuja: Mr Jelani Aliyu, the Director General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, has stated that the Nigerian automotive industry can only grow to the extent Nigerians patronize Made In Nigeria automobiles.

Aliyu made the assertion today, Monday, 21st February, 2022 while speaking as a guest on Sunrise Daily, Channel Television’s flagship current affairs program.

In line with Jelani:s position, the Federal Government has substantially increased its patronage of Indigenous automobile manufacturers like Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Limited.

The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) last week ordered buses from Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) Company Limited for the Abuja bus shuttle service.

This is in addition to the highly sensitive job of producing spare parts for the Nigerian Airforce which IVM has been saddled with under this dispensation.

Again, Dangote has revitalized the otherwise moribund ANAMMCO Enugu, through a long standing contract for the manufacture of Shacman trucks for its massive operations across the country.

Certainly, that is how best to build local capacity; one step at a time.
