INEC OFFICE IN ENUGU BURNT BY UNKNOWN ARSONISTS

Nsukka: The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ogurute, Igboeze North Local Government Headquarters, Enugu State was burnt down by unidentified marauders and arsonists on Sunday.

From available information, the office was set on fire Sunday night and the affected building was totally burnt. Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area has recently witnessed a spare of attacks by unidentified hoodlums and criminal elements leading to imposition of a 6pm to 6am curfew in both Igboeze North and Igboeze South Local Government Areas.

This latest assault took place despite the fact that both sister Local Government Councils have had heavy security personnel moved there to contain the ugly trend of violent attacks.

Fire fighters from the Enugu State Fire Service from the Ogurute fire station despite getting the information early enough could not move in to combat the outbreak until security was provided.

By then, the fire had done much damage.However, both fire trucks from Nsukka and Ogurute fire stations were ere mobilized and reportedly fought the fire most part of the night preventing it from spreading and causing more damage.
