…says public security and safety shall be maintained as citizens disregard illegal orders and go about their lawful businesses

Enugu – The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, has charged supervisory officers of the command to sustain the tempo towards ending the illegal sit at home in the state.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the PPRO, DSP Dan Ndukwe on Friday.

The statement reads:

“The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmed Ammani, fdc, had a Conference with Management and Supervisory Officers of the Command today, July 21, 2023, at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu. The Meeting reviewed the policing and security dynamics of the State and devised strategies to improve public security and the safety of lives and property.

  1. During his lecture, the CP charged the Officers and their subordinates to completely align themselves with the policing vision and commitment of the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to transform the Police into “a beacon of hope, a symbol of justice, and a force to be reckoned with.” This is even as he warned them, in line with the Ag. IGP’s directives, to be more professional, resolute, community-policing-minded and to bear in mind that the days of “complacency and indifference” to work are over.
  2. The Conference, which was attended by management members, Area Commanders, Commanding Officers of PMF Squadrons and other Formations, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Sections and Units of the Command, saw the CP charge the Officers to maintain the ongoing intense drive to, among other things, end the illegal sit-at-home order and the nefarious activities of unrepentant and subversive criminal elements, in line with the pronouncement of the Executive Governor of the State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi, especially as it concerns putting an end to the illegal order.
  3. The CP, while commending citizens of that State who have been defying the illegal order to go about their lawful businesses, ordered the Supervisory Officers to ensure that they further dominate the security space, patrol, and build the confidence of those who may still be scared to go out as they should, on the illegal sit-at-home days.
  4. The Commissioner reiterated that the Police, collaborating with sister security agencies and law-abiding citizens, remain unfazed and committed to improving the general security and safety of the people, as they disregard such malevolent orders and go about their lawful businesses.
