HERDSMEN KILLINGS:UMAHI, UGWUANYI HAVE FAILED – CLO

Urges SE Governors to enact Anti Grazing Law

Enugu: The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), Enugu State Branch has berated Governors Dave Umahi and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Ebonyi and Enugu States respectively for failing in their duties as Chief Security Officers of their states.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Comrade Kindness Jonah, the CLO Enugu State Program Officer, regarding recent killings of unarmed citizens by Fulani herdsmen in Ebonyi and Enugu States.

The statement read in parts, “Fulani herdsmen also killed people in Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo LGA of Enugu State, the same day they killed people at Ebonyi, but Governor Ugwuanyi is quiet about it.

“What disturbs our psyche is the statement credited to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi that if the Fulani herdsmen repeat the Killing, he would charge them to Court.

“You will charge the killers to court if they repeat the killing, as if the one they have done is not enough to prosecute them, or take any necessary action”

He also urged the South East Governors to immediately enact Anti Grazing Laws in their respective States as a deterrent against further herdsmen attacks.
