Enugu: Insecurity in Enugu State which assumed a new dimension following last week’s assassination of a prominent politician, Ozo Gab Onuzulike and his brother appears to be unabated as gunnmen on Sunday, attacked a commercial vehicle and opened fire at travellers along Four Corner-Udi Road in Enugu State.
According to an eyewitness account, the driver alongside some passengers managed to escape the marauding gunmen, who shot sporadically.
video of the incident shows a casualty bleeding from his leg where he had been shot as nurses in a dark hospital used torch light to treat the injured passenger.
The passengers said they were travelling in a Sienna from Abakiliki in Ebonyi State, to Awka, in Anambra state, when they were attacked.
The Four Corner-Udi Bypass road has recently become a danger zone with gunmen and kidnappers apparently having a field day there.
However, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel with the prompt response of security agencies who went after the killers of Ozo Onuzulike, eventually gunning down one of them while others fled with bullet wounds.
