The Biafra De Facto Customary Government (BDFCG) is worried about the failure of State Governments in Biafraland to promote quality and affordable education in public schools.
Public schools have been neglected and abandoned, and have become places where the children of the poor are sent to be forgotten. The curriculum is outdated and irrelevant to the needs of students in the 21st century, and the reward system for teachers is ineffective.
BDFCG wants Biafracentric politicians—politicians who are committed to improving the lives of Biafran people—to go into government to reform the education system. The education system is currently on the concurrent list of the Nigerian Constitution, which means that both the federal and state governments have jurisdiction over it. BDFCG believes that the education system should be tailored to solve the problems of technology, housing, food, health, and inequality.We condemn corruption in the education system and call for a revolutionary overhaul to save the generation of our children.
We have noted the exploitation of struggling parents in most private schools, including the imposition of customized books and other reading materials. This should be reviewed. It is also not acceptable for missionary schools to ask parents to pay for reading tables and chairs, something that should be provided by the school as part of its assets.Governors in Biafraland must now pay strict attention to this important sector. It is our belief that the Government should build model schools, and set high standards and mandate public servants to enroll their children in public schools.
That way, the competitive edge of private/missionary schools will be checked. BDFCG will continue to advocate for Biafra ideology that will guarantee good governance, equity, fairness, and justice.
