FANS REJOICE AS RANGERS INTERNATIONAL FC, ENUGU UNVEILS ILECHUKWU, FORMERLY OF HEARTLAND, MFM AS NEW COACH

Enugu – Fans of Rangers International of Enugu have greeted the announcement of the arrival of Fidelis Ilechukwu as the club’s new Coach/ Technical Adviser with elation.

According to the Club’s Administrative Secretary , Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua, Ilechukwu immediate past Technical Adviser of Plateau United, Jos is a “widely travelled and experienced coach”, having also handled other prominent NPFL sides as Heartland FC, Owerri and Moutain of fire M.F.M FC, Agege- Lagos.

Ilechukwu, who is to be formally unveiled at the club’s corporate office on Wednesday will be saddled with the task of moulding a winning squad for the ‘Flying Antelopes’.

Several of Enugu based outfit’s fans commended Barr Ugwuarua and other members of the team’s management for successfully securing the services of the high profile coach, whose sterling records in his previous clubs, especially MFM, they expect him to replicate in Enugu.

Ikechukwu Ojimba, who calls himself ‘a diehard’ Rangers fan said that he was overjoyed by the arrival of Ilechukwu.

” Coach Ilechukwu’s arrival at Rangers is a good omen. It shows that Governor Peter Mbah and the club’s management really heeded to the cries of the fans for an urgent change.

” Through out most of last season, Rangers fans held bated breaths, as we were afraid our darling team would be relegated, for the first time in their history”.

Another fan, Jerry Ezekwe urged Governor Mbah to do everything humanly possible to ensure that the team returned to their home ground at the Cathedral, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium,Enugu, stressing that it was an aberration for the team to play their home games at Awka during last season due to the poor state of the pitch at their home ground.

Another one, a former player of the Club who prefers anonymity asserts that the “arrival of Ilechukwu in Rangers is a welcome development since he has a better track record than Maikaba”.

“However, the management should also ensure that the players are improved welfare packages to ensure that Rangers returns to it’s glorious days”.

Barr Ugwuarua made the announcement in a statement released by Norbert Okolie, the club’s Media/Communication officer.

He said:

“It gives me pleasure to inform all our teaming supporters that after a lengthy deliberation to secure the services of a quality coach to take over the technical activities in our club, we have successfully gotten the signature of coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and he would be unveiled in a brief ceremony at the head office of the club.

” His coming will help the club stabilize and challenge effectively for honors in the coming season,” stated Ugwuarua.

He equally disclosed that Christian Chukwu, the Club’s living legend, and former Super Eagles Player and Coach, who is as well the technical director of the famous Enugu football outfit played a prominent role in securing the services of the highly respected and widely traveled coach.

“Christian Chukwu will be present at the event just as other stake holders of the club like the national chairman, Rangers Football Supporters Club, will also be around as well as members of the sporting press. 

Ugwuarua said:
