ENUGU APC DESCRIBES ALLEGATION OF TAMPERING WITH ITS NATIONAL DELEGATES LIST AS FALSE, SMEAR CAMPAIGN

Enugu: The Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described allegations that its national delegates list at the just concluded special convention/ presidential primary as false and and a smear campaign.

This was contained in a statement issued on 9th June, 2022, by Charles-Solo Ako, the party’s State Publicity Secretary.

The statement reads:

“Our attention has been drawn to the video making the rounds alleging that the list of Enugu state’s national delegates to the just concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Special Convention 2022 Presidential Primary was replaced with another list. The poor narrative also alleges that Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Hope Uzodimma hijacked the APC Enugu State’s list. The video showed one Rufus Nwagu, a member of APC, Enugu state agitating vigorously over the alleged purported swap of the delegates list.

Another report similarly quoted one Maj. Gen Chris Eze (rtd) as saying that his name was removed from the delegates list.

We make bold to categorically state that the allegations are issues of lies, cheap blackmail and unfounded stories to attract undue attention.

First is to state that linking the name of Imo State Governor into their unfounded stories portray the intention of those who conjured the report as the governor has no business with Enugu state’s national delegates list. This is therefore a smear campaign against the persons of His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodimma and the Hon. Barr Ugochukwu Agballah – the APC Enugu state chairman.

It is pertinent to categorically state that Enugu state delegates list was never manipulated, neither was it hijacked by anybody whatsoever. The Enugu State’s national delegates fully participated in the presidential primary without any encomberment, molestation or hindrance. Ironically and funny enough, Rufus Nwagu’s name was in the list of Enugu state’s national delegates and he indeed voted at the primary election. He was apparently misinformed by rumour mongers.

Only those with the falsehood sense of entitlement and who believe that it was their birthright to be national delegates but were disappointed are the ones raising dust with such frustrations as a storm in a tea cup.

Members of our great party and the general public are advised to discountenance the fake news and unfounded allegations.”
