The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi has emphatically stated that he is fully supporting the party’s Governorship candidate in Enugu State, Hon Barr Chijioke Edeoga.
While speaking this morning on Arise TV’s Morning Show, on the issue of Aisha Yesufu’s endorsement of Mr Frank Nweke, Jr, the Governorship of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in preference of Edeoga, the LP candidate, Obi said:
“Obidient movement is not necessarily Labour Party. Aisha (Yesufu) is not a Labour Party member and she said so. I have people supporting me who are not Labour Party but are supporting me like Atedo Peterside. Labour Party has chosen viable and straight forward Chijioke Edeoga as candidate and I stand by it.”
Obi explained that people in the Obidient movement have the right to make their own endorsement but that he stands with the party’s choice of Edeoga in Enugu State.
“Labour Party has only two cans in the South East, we have no candidate in Ebonyi.
“Our Governorship candidates are first class candidates and should be supported by the obidient family and the people.
“We can go into partnership in some places like in Cross Rivers, the PDP candidate Prof Sandy Onor, who is an excellent candidate”.
He stressed that Labour Party was supporting the PDP candidate in Cross River State based on competence and his excellent track record.
Apart from that, he urged Obidients to support all other LP candidates including Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour of Lagos State and Deacon Ken Pela Nwadogbo of Delta State, among others.
