BY PETER OBI’S EMERGENCE GOD HAS OPENED A DOOR FOR NIGERIA BUT IT’S LEFT FOR NIGERIANS TO STEP INTO IT- AVM CHUKWU, RTD

Enugu: A retired military officer, AVM Chris Ndubuisi Chukwu, Rtd has described the emergence of Mr Peter Obi, as the Labour Party Presidential Candidate as “God’s answer to the prayer of Nigerians”. However, he averred that Nigerians had the duty of “taking a step forward to pass through that door which God has opened for them through Peter Obi by joining Labour Party to vote for the Obi – Datti ticket.

The retired military brass hat cum evangelist made the assertion on Saturday during the Enugu Obidient Summit held under his Chairmanship at Zodiac Hotels, Enugu.

He extolled the virtues of Peter Obi, who he said made him to decide to become politically active:

“Some of us have not been too politically active. Maybe because we are not financially flamboyant Generals. But, I think Peter Obi is pulling out some of us. What do you think?” he asked the audience rhetorically.

“Even if you are blind or deaf, even the baby in the womb in Nigeria now, knows that there is a spirit of transformation, there is a spirit of revival, there is a spirit to rescue Nigeria from chaos. Being Obidient has become a household slogan. We have been told how the movement of Obi and Datti is making waves across Nigeria.”

While thanking the organizers for conferring the association’s patronship on him, he promised to do his best to live up to expectations.

“Everything rises and falls with leadership. Nigeria is like a vehicle, smoking rickety vehicle about to knock engine. It’s like a ship about to sink but the captain does not know what to do. In my own constituency, it’s like an aircraft battered in the air, only waiting to crash and the pilot does not know what to do.

“In this predicament, like I said everything rises and falls with leadership, it can only take a man who knows what to do to salvage the situation. That ship needs a new captain who will save the ship from sinking. Peter Obi is that captain.”

Furthermore, the retired ace fighter pilot said that the essence of the summit was to mobilize support en masse for the Peter Obi Presidency, which he described as a “divine project”.

“We need to rescue our nation from those who have led us astray. We should therefore put hands together and register in the Labour Party, LP with a view to voting for Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed
It is a divine movement. Peter Obi’s emergence is Prayer answered for Nigeria. If God answers your prayer, he opens a door for you but it’s left for you to take a step into that. Today, let us take the decision to enter that door that God has opened for us through Peter Obi.”

In his own speech, Oboigede Casmir Agbo,Esq the Enugu State Labour Party Chairman that Enugu State needed a change of leadership from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who he accused of leaving infrastructure in the state in a pitiable condition, after twenty three years in power.

“To worsen matters, civil servants in Enugu State, the teachers are on strike, for how much, N18, 500, which today is not enough to buy a bag of rice.

He also narrated an encounter with the State Governor, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, last year.

“Last year, a drama happened in Government House (at a meeting of Chairmen of political parties with the Governor). He (the Governor) said, “This seat I occupy is spiritual and temporal, so you party Chairmen, be mindful of how you criticize me. I replied him saying, “Your Excellency, I agree that your seat is spiritual but come 2023, I will take over that seat that is spiritual and temporal. He laughed and asked me “Where are your structures?” I told him that my structures shall come and today my structures are here.

Going further, he queried,” Why are we suffering? Don’t call Buhari, it’s because we have bad Governors. We are to blame for our woes.
He also recounted stories of how severally, he was lobbied over the party’s Governorship ticket and trouble that .
” They brought 500M in Dollars but I left them, entered my car and left. What I’m running away from is terminal illness. I’ll rather remain hale and hearty as Casmir Agbo, with only N100, 000 in my pocket, than collecting their money only to spend same on terminal illness in India.
“Look at what is happening in Enugu, the Governor is leaving, the Cousin is coming to become Deputy Governor and the nephew, who is now a Local Government Chairman is going to the House of Assembly, from the same Local Government. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is a disgrace, I’m saying it because I’m also from Nsukka. That is not what Nsukka people are known for. Yet, he is being applauded. We are saying that it’s time for change.
He ended with a song,”Ebee ka anyị ga-ebi ye aka? Ebe e sere mmadụ, ebe e sere nwatakịrị, mama ya na papa.

In his own speech, Hon Ikechukwu Ugwu, Chairman, National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS and Enugu North Labour Party Senatorial aspirant urged Obidient youths to be firm: “Youth like us are saying we are Obidient, that they believe in Labour Party, if only Labour Party will bring a strong man. We need only people who have track record and the ingenuity to solve problems.
“I was lured to contest in the PDP but I told them that I want to contest election any day you can compete with your brain, not with your money. Today, the opportunity is here. The structure is your own mind. Do you believe in yourself. If you believe that you can vote and your vote will count, are you not powerful.
“One thing I told myself, when I didn’t know that the movement would gro to this point was that even if Iost, it would encourage other youths who saw that I confronted a Governor how much more now that I’m going to win”
“So, this is an opportunity for us and we must not miss it. Of course, after today,I promise that we will liaise on how to organize a more massive Obidient summit.
