BURSARY AWARD: NDI ANINRI COMMEND HON OKWU FOR BEING A WORTHY SON OF EKWEREMADU
Enugu: On Wednesday, Ndi Aninri turned out en masse in celebration of excellence and distinctive representation, at the launching of a Bursary award by the Chinedu Okwu Otaka Education and Empowerment Foundation, an initiative of Hon. Engr Chinedu Okwu (Otaka), member representing Aninri state constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly.
One after the other, the elated constituents poured encomiums on Hon Okwu, for the Bursary award, the first of its kind by a House of Assembly member in Aninri, describing him as a “worthy son” of Senator Prof Ike Ekweremadu, CFR, Former Deputy Senate President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and Senator representing Enugu West in the Red Chamber.
In his welcome speech, the chairman, Board of Trustees of the foundation and Member Representating Aninri Constituency, Hon. Engr Chinedu Okwu ( Otaka ), expressed his appreciation to the Enugu State Governor, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his peaceful disposition which has engendered peace in the state.
“I thank His Excellency, Rt Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Executive Governor of Enugu State for always giving me his support. In fact, I can boldly say that am the person he loves most in the House” He also appreciated Sen. Prof. Ike Ekweremmadu (CFR) for his Fatherly support, Outstanding Representation and Verifiable Achievements. In his remark, the Local Government Chairman, Aninri LGA, Hon. Ezekiel Chukwu expressed joy, that Hon Okwu was now following in Senator Ekweremadu’s foot steps by setting up a Foundation to support the good works of Ikeoha Foundation.
Sen. Prof. Ike Ekweremmadu in his own remarks, commended Hon. Engr Okwu for such a laudable initiative through which he is giving back to the society, urging the beneficiaries of the Bursary scheme to utilize it judiciously.
Senator Ekweremadu further advised them to be always show gratitude, not necessarily to their benefactor, Hon Okwu but by lending a helping hand others as well.
“We are happy that people who passed through us are doing well, by 2007 nobody would have believed that Aninri will be witnessing this level of Infrastructural development”. Ekweremadu stated
The event which was attended by prominent personalities, Traditional Rulers, Political Office Holders, Town Union President Generals, etc from Aninri LGA was also a townhall meeting, enabling Hon Okwu to render an account of his stewardship and get a feedback from his constituents.
Stakeholders who spoke during the townhall meeting all commended Hon Okwu for such effective representation within two years in office.
