Lizz Truss has just been announced as the new leader of the UK Conservative Party and incoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Graham Brady, Chairman, Conservative Party and returning officer announced the result a few minutes ago.

Truss, a former Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development Affairs polled over 81, 000 votes to beat her co-contestant Rishi Sunak, who polled over 60,000 votes.

Accordingly, she got 57% of the votes while Sunak got 42%. The margin of victory was actually not as wide as was anticipated.
