Lagos – Outspoken and controversial anchor of Arise TV’s flagship current affairs program, Morning Show has lambasted those unduly ethnicizing the forthcoming Governorship election in Lagos State by describing Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party, LP candidate as not being “a true Yoruba man because he has Igbo blood since his mother is Yoruba”.
Abati made the assertion this morning during Arise TV’s Morning Show:
“There is a dangerous trend, we have noticed in Lagos State in the past few days regarding the Governorship election.
“There has been concerted attacks on the LP Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, to the effect that he is not a true Yoruba man because his mother is Igbo and his wife is also Igbo.
“They say that he has Igbo blood and is not pure Yoruba. How can anyone say that the Rhodes-Vivours are not real Lagosians when his great grandfather, as a Lagosian fought in the First World War, when his grandfather was a prominent Lagos lawyer?
“This is dangerous and must be condemned! We need peace in Lagos. After all, has anyone accused Bola Tinubu, the President-Elect of not being a true Yoruba because his wife is Itsekiri?”
