ATIKU ABUBAKAR’S TWO-STROKE INSULT TO IGBO POLITICAL SANCTUM SANCTORIUM

There is often a sense of respect when a man sleeps with another man’s wife and makes every spirited effort to keep the knowledge away from him. But when a man sleeps with another man’s wife and not only boldly make it known to him but expect the same man to applaud him for sleeping with his wife, it not only portrays the depth of mental slavery in subjugation but also the height of arrogance in power.

That was indeed the melodrama that recently played out between the host Igbo members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and their Presidential aspirant Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Not minding the historical fact that the Igbo have not tested the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since emerging from the ashes of the civil war, and that the North under the aegis of Fulani oligarchy has produced many Presidents of the Federation both in Khaki and Agbada, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wants the Igbo to wait until he has completed his proposed eight-year terms.

He wants the Igbo to slavishly jettison the idea of voting for their kinsman Peter Obi and vote for him for no other reason than the fact that he is a Fulani whose people hold political power in Nigeria by right of Allah’s injunction. In what looks like adding salt to injury, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar went further to inform his Igbo PDP hosts that because Igbo women gave him three children they should sell their birth-rights like Esau and vote for him; the kind of story he tells the people of Osun State.

We have had M. K. O. Abiola who even outclassed all politicians in Nigeria in the business of multi-ethnic children for political selfish ends and it came to naught. We have had Nwachukwu of Isuikwuato who married the daughter of Alhaji Usman Dagogo the Emir of Katsina that produced the now retired Major General Ike Nwachukwu. Yet when the chips were down, that did not stop the pogrom against the Igbo in Katsina Emirate in 1966. All they did was to protect the product of that union.

Similarly, Okogwu of Asaba married a woman from Bauchi Emirate, the product of which was the late First Lady Maryam (Rosemary) Ibrahim Babangida. The invading Federal troops did not spare Mr. Okogwu because he was their in-law during the brutal Asaba Massacre. At the end of the day, the fatherless Rosemary and her brother Sunday were taken away with their mother to the safe zone of Northern Nigeria and subsequently married out to one of her mother’s members.

So, I think Alhaji Atiku has no genuine and convincing reasons why the Igbo should vote for him. What is however agitating the minds of Nigerians which revolves round Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s moral theorem on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is the very damaging accusation of corruption leveled against PDP National Chairman Dr Iyorcha Ayu by the Governor of Rivers State His Excellency Nyesom Wike.

We are reliably informed that some honorable members of PDP National Working Committee (NWC) have returned their shares of Iyorcha Ayu’s proceeds of corruption secretly lodged into their respective personal bank accounts by PDP National Secretariat.

We are reliably informed that the National Deputy Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofik Arapaja returned 36 million naira; the National Vice Chairman (South-South) Chief Dan Orbih returned 28 million naira; and the National Woman Leader Mrs. Stella Effah-Attoe returned 28 million naira. Nigerians patiently waiting for Alhaji Atiku to respond to the aforementioned melodrama of corruption involving Dr Iyorcha Ayu as the Presidential candidate of the party since it questions the integrity of the party.
