ARCHBISHOP OPOKO @63: ISIGUZORO, OHANAEZE SCRIBE HAILS CLERIC, SAYS IMPLEMENTATION OF IGBO BISHOPS’ REPORT ON OHANAEZE CRISIS HIS BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT
Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro has congratulated the Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia, Most Rev Dr Chibuzor Rapheal Opoko at the occasion of his 65th birthday anniversary.
In a birthday message contained in a press statement issued on Monday, the Ohanaeze Chief scribe congratulated the revered cleric who clocked 63 years on March 25th, describing him as a peace builder and a patriotic shepherd of his people, who has the courage to speak truth to power.
Recalling Archbishop Opoko’s resolute commitment towards an equitable resolution of the ongoing factionalization of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio -cultural organization, Isiguzoro averred that the best birthday gift the South East Governors and other Ohanaeze stakeholders can offer to Opoko remains a lasting resolution of the Ohanaeze crisis through the implementation of the Igbo Archbishops/Bishops Report on the Ohanaeze crisis.
The statement reads:
“On behalf of the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, I wish to extend warm birthday felicitations to our father in faith, the Methodist Archbishop of Umuahia Archdiocese, Most Rev Dr Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, as he marked his 65th birthday anniversary on 25th March, 2025.
“Archbishop Opoko is a blessing to the Church and to humanity at large, especially the Igbo nation.
“As a Shepherd of the flock, he has the courage to speak truth to power and never wavers from doing so, with divinely inspired wisdom.
“We recall the resilience, sincerity and patriotism he exhibited as the Secretary of the Igbo Archbishops and Bishops Peace Committee on the Resolution of the Ohanaeze crisis, culminating in their report which remains the surest and most equitable roadmap to the lingering impasse in the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization.
“Therefore, I sincerely urge South East Governors and other Ohanaeze stakeholders to ensure the immediate implementation of the Bishops’ Report on the Ohanaeze crisis, as that will be the best birthday gift to Archbishop Opoko.
“My prayer is that God Almighty shall continue to sustain him in Divine good health and wisdom in his journey of providing succour to God’s children, both spiritually and temporally.
Infact, the forthcoming Ohanaeze Ndigbo National election next January that will usher in a President General from Rivers State, in line with the Ohanaeze constitution makes the report’s implementation more imperative, to ensure that the election is held under a united Ohanaeze
