APWEN ENUGU PAYS COURTESY VISIT ON EEDC





Enugu: Engr. Dr. Cecilia Igbonakalum Okafor, Chairperson, Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, APWEN Enugu Chapter led other executives and members of the association on a courtesy visit to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC at their corporate headquarters, Enugu, on Thursday, 28th April, 2022.
On arrival, the APWEN delegation was received by their top management team including the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Praveen Chorghade.
The Managing Director was highly impressed on the numerical strength of female engineers as at present. He compared that with what was obtained years back when he was in university in India. According to him, in his class there was not a single female engineer. In response the APWEN Chairman, Engr. Dr. Cecilia Igbonakalum Okafor narrated how APWEN has been on the front line in bridging the gender gap in Engineering by promoting the interest of a girl child to study engineering.
The Chairman also elaborated on so many APWEN programmes that are currently running with a view to achieving the same objective, to mention but a few, like SheEngineer, Invent it and Build it, Stem and Town and Gown programmes etc, the result is overwhelming.
The Managing Director, Engr. Praveen Chorghade lamented the challenges they are facing in power distribution as it concern lost of revenue. He said emphatically that the amount of revenue lost is unimaginable. He narrated the method they are intending to use to have a lasting solution to the problem.
Finally, Engr. Dr. Chioma Ugwa gave a Vote of Thanks where she appreciated the EEDC Managing Director on the warm reception he accorded the APWEN delegation.
