APWEN ENUGU CHAPTER CELERATES 2022 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF GIRLS IN ICT WITH STUDENTS OF TRANS EKULU GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL, ENUGU
APWEN Enugu Chapter, under the distinguished leadership of Engr. Dr. Cecilia Igbonakalum Okafor celebrated the 2022 International Day of Girls in ICT at Trans Ekulu Secondary school, Enugu, on Thursday, 2nd June, 2022.
On arrival, the school management and the students welcomed the APWEN members. The Technical session started at 11.15 a m prompt with an opening prayers by one of the students.
Highlights of the event include a lecture on STEM delivered by the APWEN Enugu Chapter Chairman, Engr Dr Cecilia Igbonakalum Okafor.
The APWEN Chairman Started the lecture defining STEM as an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. She Laid emphasis on the important of STEM learning in our contemporary world with the rise of new technologies. She described STEM as key enabler that teaches critical thinking skills which instills a passion for innovation.
Numerous benefits of STEM Education were discussed. She advised the students to take up STEM Subjects in order to build their capacity to study Engineering.
The other team members on the visit Engr. Ukamaka Onoh, Engr. Georgina Boi and Engr. Dr. Chioma Ugwa also informed the students on the advantages of taking up Engineering Profession.
Afterwards, there was an interactive session which brought the lecture to an end. The Principal of the college Mrs Okpe appreciated and thanked the APWEN Team, while one of the students gave a vote of thanks on behalf of the school.It ended with a group photograph.
