APPOINTMENT OF EZEKWESILI TO HEAD TRANSITION TEAM:SOLUDO STARTS ON A HIGH AS NEW ENUGU MOVEMENT URGES OTHER IGBO STATES TO ELECT THEIR OWN SOLUDOS
Awka: Political pundits have reacted favorably to Prof Chukwuma Soludo, the Anambra State Governor-Elects appointment of Nigeria’s former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili as the head of a transition team ahead of his takeover from incumbent governor, Willie Obiano in February, 2022.
Ezekwesili, a former Presidential candidate served alongside Soludo as technocrats under President Olusegun Obasanjo before Soludo’s eventual appointment as Central Bank Governor.
Meanwhile, New Enugu Movement (NEM), has urged other Igbo states to follow Anambra’s example by electing their own Soludos, come 2023.
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent while reacting to Ezekwesili’s appointment, Comrade Edmund Nwangwu, one of the facilitators of NEM commended Soludo for “starting on a high”
According to him, “New Enugu Movement (NEM) commends the Anambra State Governor Elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for starting on a high.
“That is the essence of electing into office someone who has the capacity and is willing and ready to serve as Chief Executive of his state from Day one.
With this and given his being an international citizen and a known face in global Government circles, Anambra is set to become an investor’s haven in line with the current “Akụ ruo ulo” mantra being promoted by several Igbo groups such as Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Ala-Igbo Development Foundation (ADF).
NEM, therefore urges Enugu and other states to elect their own Soludos as Governors come 2023 in order to spread the Soludo Magic across the South-East region to ensure regional cooperation and integration.
Analysts also believe that Soludo’s emergence will lead to the rebuilding of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as a regional party.
