ABBA KYARI ARRAIGNED IN COURT BY NDLEA

Abuja: Abba Kyari, the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police and erstwhile celebrated super cop is currently being arraigned at the Federal high court l, Abuja on 8 count charge of conspiracy, obstruction, and dealing in Cocaine by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

Kyari, who was already in trouble after the American Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI asked for his extradition after being allegedly implicated by Hushpuppi, Ramon Azeez, Nigerian born internet scammer, who is already serving prison sentence in the United States, worsened his dilemma earlier this year after attempting to bribe an official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized Cocaine.

The NDLEA also revealed that Kyari was a member of a transnational drug ring. He has been in detention since February 14th and has been denied bail.

Several Nigerians have called on the NDLEA to parade the embattled cop as it does other suspects but in a swift response, Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, via a Twitter post disclosed that the agency does not parade suspects but only posts photos and videos of some recoveries and suspects so people can see the work they (NDLEA) do.

“What we do most times is that when we issue a statement on our activities, we select some pictures of the exhibits, sometimes with the suspects there, just to show the public because we have a very cynical society that even with pictures, still, a number of people would say it is not possible.”

“So, you sometimes need pictures or videos to support the statement you are issuing out so that people can actually see and believe that.”
