2023: NDIGBO DON’T WANT VICE PRESIDENT – IDA WARNS IGBO POLITICAL JOBBERS

Abuja: The Igbo Delegates Assembly, IDA, the umbrella body of Ndigbo in the 19 northern states and FCT has warned Igbo political jobbers that “Ndigbo don’t want Vice President in 2023”

This was contained in a communiqué issued after their general meeting at Abuja on Saturday signed by Chief Chikezie Nwogu and Chief Auston Ofokansi Ifedinezi, President General and Secretary General, among others.

The communiqué reads:

*A COMMUNIQUE FROM IGBO DELEGATES ASSEMBLY, IDA, EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING AT THE DAUGHTERS OF LOVE RETREAT AND CONFERENCE CENTRE, ACO ESTATE, LUGBE,

ABUJA, ON SATURDAY, 9th APRIL 2022*

This meeting became extremely necessary looking at the present state of the nation and it’s effects. The meeting attracted *all the arms* of Igbo Delegates Assembly viz *IDA Excos, 19 State Presidents and FCT Abuja, Ndi Eze Igbo ( Igbo Traditional Rulers ) in the 19 northern states and FCT Abuja, Northern (Hausa/ Fulani) leaders in the South East and the Critical and eminent Igbo Stakeholders in the north

The following resolutions were reached.

1) The meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Ndigbo in 19 northern states of Nigeria and FCT, Abuja (which comprises of IDA, State PGs and Ndi Eze Igbo in the north and FCT, Abuja. *A special vote of confidence was also passed on Eze Igbo, FCT, Abuja, HRH, Eze Dr Uche Egenti, OON, for his immense and relentless commitment/ determination towards the smooth growth and progress of Ndigbo in FCT, Northern Nigeria and Diaspora*

2) Reinstated that ndigbo believe and need one United and indivisible Nigeria where Equity, Justice, Peace, Love and fairness reign supreme.

3) Asked Nigerians, especially, the Christians and Moslems to intensify fervent prayers for a peaceful and harmonious coexistence in Nigeria now that both religions are fasting and praying season. A better Nigeria is a better Africa and a better Africa is a better world.

4) Also reinstated is our sincere appeal to Nigerians of all ethnicities, geopolitical zones, the religious,, Traditional institutions, all the political parties in Nigeria to zone presidency of Nigeria, come 2023, to South East geopolitical zone of Nigeria for the interest of peace, love, equity, justice and rapid progress of Nigeria.

5) Appeal to all government leadership Strata in Nigeria to emulate the peaceful, brotherly love, understanding and synergy that the leadership of ndigbo in the north and the leadership of the northerners in the South East enjoy today.

6) We thank President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law, Electronic Procession and Transmission of Election Results in Nigeria, urge INEC to do the needful by improving on the perfect application of BVAS and other necessary areas to avoid the lapses encountered in Anambra State during the governorship election on 06/12/2021 and the FCT Area Council Elections February 2022. Very slow and disenfranchisement of eligible voters.

7) Both the leadership of Ndigbo in the north and the leadership of Northerners in the South East unanimously agreed to work together to uphold the unity and sanctity of Nigeria at all times and all places.

8) Urged every onye Igbo who has attained the age of 18 years and above to ensure and prove that he/ she is a very proud Igbo, to register and secure PVC no matter where he/ she is domiciled in Nigeria.

9) Encourage every Igbo person who knows that he/she is qualified to be the President of Nigeria to come out and contest. Again, such eminently qualified persons should build bridges across Nigeria and consult widely to carry every geopolitical zone and ethnic nationalities in Nigeria along when packaging policies and manifestos. *Ndigbo do not want Vice President.

10) Asked the federal government of Nigeria to brace up and find lasting solutions to the visible rapid increase in insecurity and excruciating poverty in Nigeria.*Igbo Delegates Assembly is the leadership body of Ndigbo in the 19 northern States of Nigeria and FCT Abuja*. We are a socio-cultural organisation and very apolitical.l
