Dr Obed Mailafia, a former Presidential candidate and a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has described the 1999 Constitution as “an Islamic document” which must be jettisoned totally for a new constitution to salvage the country.
Mailafia stated this while speaking as a guest on Silverbird TV on Wednesday about the ongoing public hearings for the amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
“The 1999 Constitution is an Islamic document. It did not recognize Christianity.
“Its an exercise in futility. You cannot amend a lie. They are trying to promote a lie from the pit of hell”
Dr Mailafia, however stressed that he still believed in the greatness of Nigeria, provided the 1999 Constitution was replaced with a new constitution agreed upon by “we the peoples of Nigeria”
