Umuahia: HRH Eze Israel Kanu, father of the IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kehinde Kanu is back in his Palace at Afaraukwu, Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State.
According to impeccable Sources close to the family, the much adored Royal father returned to his Palace, three days ago and has been receiving visitors and well wishers. He is reported to be hale and hearty.
Eze Kanu and other members of the royal household including his wife, Ugoeze Nnenne Kanu fled Akaraukwu in the wake of the genocidal Operation Python Dance two years ago.
They have reported been in London, UK since then.
The military Operation which lasted from 15th September to 14th October, 2017 left a sour taste in the mouth of Ndigbo owing to the sheer number of fatalities and human rights abuses allegedly perpetrated by officers and men of the Nigerian Army.
Earlier today, the 15th of September, the IPOB media and Publicity Secretary, Mazi Emma ‘Powerful’ Kanu had issued a statement alerting the world of “plans to attack Afaraukwu again” based on the presence of Police patrol vans in the vicinity of Eze Kanu’s Palace.
The group accused the government of spearheading the plot.
IPOB claimed that a “killer squad” had been stationed in front of Kanu’s compound.
However, investigations revealed that the presence of Police patrol vans was not in preparation for any new onslaught on Afaraukwu by security agencies. Rather, the police got intelligence that IPOB wanted to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the commencement of the inglorious Operation Python Dance today, 15th September, 2017 at Afaraukwu.
Consequently, the police deployed patrol vans around the area to maintain the peace during the slated Anniversary Celebration.
In fact, rumours are rife in Umuahia that the return of his parents maybe a prelude to the possible return to Afaraukwu of Mazi Nnamdi Kehinde Kanu himself.
